Als Font bezeichnet am die elektrische Form einer Schriftart. Entweder sind die Schriften pixel- oder vektorbasiert.
Es gibt verschiedene Fontformate:
Bitmap-Fonts = Pixelfonts
Outline-Fonts = Vektorfonts basierend auf Bezierkurven
Type1-Fonts = Postscript Schriften
True Type Fonts = Vektorfonts mit Splines
Open-Type = Weiterentwicklung von Type1 & True Type
